RTW London Transport RTW Class

A total of 500 Leyland Titans were ordered from Leyland Motors in 1947.

The RTW was an 8' wide RTL, in effect, with the exception that the body, as well as the chassis, was built by Leyland Motors.

Classified 6RT, RTW1 went into service from Tottenham Garage, on Route 41, in May 1949, with others following and used on outer suburban routes.

After a series of tests in Central London, agreement was reached to operate these vehicles in Central London, which began in 1950.

Two of the class, RTW 421 and RTW422 went to Berlin for the British Industries Fair, in 1950.
