Massey Brothers of Pemberton near Wigan started building bodies for both passenger and goods vehicles in 1920 with the first double deckers being built in 1927. Bodies were built for the six wheeler Guy FCX and AEC Renown and also Leyland TD1. Having gained a reputation for good quality products their expansion concentrating on double deck vehicles of both high and lowbridge configuration. The main customers in the early years were Cumberland Motor Services together with the corporations of Birkenhead, Warrington and St Helens. Utility bodies were produced during the Second World War on Daimler and Guy chassis. which have already featured as LBC kits UHM 1 and 2. After the war many of the Massey`s were built for corporation fleets with many dedicated variations. |

The kit is principally based on the 1961 Leyland PD2A/20 highbridge as supplied to Exeter Corporation with similar bodies being built for Colchester, Lowestoft and Maidstone Corporations. Other operators had the same body again with variations and as these were numerous; detailed reference to photographs is required.
