Leyland TD5 / ECW (1937) |
|
ECW bodied a total of 116 TD5 lowbridge chassis from 1937-40. These were the standard design of the period with
modifications to suit the Leyland chassis. The operators supplied were varied the most
notable being Crosville with a total of 54. Others were East Midland, Hebbel, Thames
Valley and Yorkshire Woollen. Some other companies had TD 4's and TS 7's rebodied.
The pleasing rounded window appearance was
changed in many examples with the addition of a rain strip on both decks. A feature
included in the kit.
Otherwise apart from the differing cab
front line to accommodate the lower Leyland bonnet line, the bodies were similar to the
Bristol 'K' version. It is essential to refer to photographs prior to building the model. |
