ELC8 - LEYLAND PD1/3 EAST LANCS BODY RIBBLE "WHITE LADY" Second Series At the original 1948 launch the trade press stated that a fleet of 50 double deck coaches had been ordered but it was to be another two years before the balance arrived. They caused a surprise as they were built by a bodybuilder which Ribble had not previously used. |
|
The 1950 deliveries comprised a further 20 vehicles: 1231 1250 DCK 202-221 bodies by East Lancashire Coachbuilders of Blackburn on Leyland PD2/3 chassis. They were of similar specification but were 4 bay instead of 5 with two piece platform doors. They entered service alongside their predecessors and like them were downgraded to buses from February 1961. |

For full details of the Ribble `White Lady` a book has recently been published by the Leyland Society in the Leyland Fleet series entitled RIBBLE DOUBLE DECK COACHES. Several vehicles were sold on and a list is included in the book. |
