In 1936 a total of 50 9T9 class Green Line vehicles were added to the
fleet
T 403 - 427 CLX 551 - 575 T428 - 452 CXX 151 - 175 They were London Transport`s first Regals with oil engines,
preselective gearboxes and fluid flywheels. They had a new style body which set the
standard for the next three years and were instantly recognisable by their integral bonnet
and wing assembly and continuous panelling under the radiator. A front bumper was also
fitted.
They operated on Routes I, J, K1, and K2
from Crawley, Reigate, Watford, Dorking, Hatfield, Hitchin and Leatherhead. Four also ran
with the 6Q6`s on the Q and R from Amersham The 9T9`s were demoted to Country bus work in
1939 on arrival of the 10T10`s but were used as ambulances later in 1939. A few ran for a
short time in the Green Line fleet after the war and then were all in the Country area
fleet often running as Green Line reliefs Some were loaned to the Central area but never
painted. red The 9T9`s were withdrawn in 1952/3.
